What Do We Mean By Ready? A Review of Research On Nature-Based Early Childhood Programs

Abstract

This article puts nature-based early childhood initiatives in context, outlining some of the research on the long-term effects of preschool and kindergarten education. As well, David Sobol differentiates between academic/didactic oriented early childhood education and play-based early childhood education. He closes with  recent research that compares nature-based early childhood education to high-quality traditional early childhood education.
