Abstract

The quantitative research methods dominating educational policy were developed to serve whiteness and continue to reinforce racism and exclusion against marginalized communities. However, through collective (re)membering, these methods can be used for liberatory ends but must be engaged through a healing praxis rooted in (un)learning, refusing, and dreaming. Drawing on African and American - Indigenous traditions of call and response through letter writing, we use the Quant for What?, a critical quantitative convening series, as an exemplar of community healing. We conclude with a community invitation, highlighting how convenings can provide deep healing, foster community, and manifest transformation.
